A funny thing happened at the hairdresser last week.
I was vacationing at the hairdresser’s, getting my hair done braids. And if you know anything about getting your hair braided, it takes more than a few hours. My hairdresser is like any typical black hairdresser, she’s a multitasker… braiding, changing channels, holding court with her constituents via speaker phone.
Normally, I tuned all of it out, work or get engrossed in a romance novel, but today the call was in my ballpark. You see, she was talking to her sister, Ilene, on speaker about a SBA loan that her sister applied for and received. But she received it 1) to her personal account and 2) without having her business fully setup.
Warning bells started ringing as I listened – well eavesdropped – to her call and finally, I could not help myself, I had to butt into the conversation. I just couldn’t help myself.
I asked her right away, “do you have a business account to move the funds into?”
“No.”
“Do you have an EIN number established?”
“No.”
“How serious are you about starting this business?”
“I am very serious.”
“Okay last question, why are you starting this business?”
Because it is something that I love to do, and it can help me provide a better life for my family.
Best answer – ever.
So, I went to work with her. Helping her create the foundation of a functional company, which starts with creating an EIN, a business license and opening a bank account for the funds that you received. One of her priorities was to show the SBA she was using the money to fund a business.
Since I was already stationary for 2 hours getting my hair braided, I proceeded to assist Ilene with my CYA system for creating up the back office of her company. We created her EIN, filed for her business license, ordered a domain and setup a bank account online and payment processor for the business.
When it was all setup she asked, “What’s next?” And you guys know how I am with “what’s next.” So, we then began to talk about the steps of setting up a functional business so that she could start. She has the template to start her next endeavor.
Ilene thought it would be super hard to get a business up and running. Although it took work, it is not impossible to do. She was so grateful. She now has a functional business.
You see, this is my sweet spot. This is what I love to do, teaching moms how to take a dream or a passion and turn it into profit. But what I do not want is for that mom to not have the right foundation and back office to support that business. Many courses forget to tell you this – there is more to creating a business than just selling your goods.
And what I was doing in that two hours on the phone with my hairdresser’s sister was essentially helping another mom take her passion and turn it into a company that was functional and has the ability to grow and scale with her successes. Now that this is setup for Ilene. The sky is the limit.
Now again, I’ve never met the woman, we were never face to face. She did everything via phone, and it was freakin’ amazing. I was pumped and wanted to see how she made out. I told her, “Hey, I don’t want to let you go right now, I want to see this through. I want to see you sell your first product. I want to see you get your first customer. Do you want to talk a little more about how to go about doing this?”
I kept it real with her and let her know that the next steps were part of a package (not free) and we set up that call. This week, we created a business for Ilene. She sold her first 10 products in less than six days of setting up her business.
Why am I telling you this story because, honestly, if I was able to do it, if Ilene was able to do it, you can too!
If you are a mom with a passion and not just a passion of running your household or a passion of loving your children, but an actual passion that you think that other moms or other people in the world can benefit from. Let’s turn that passion into a thriving business that could bring you profit. Let’s turn your passion into profit.
Let’s motivate our mindsets to make money. And the way that you do that is putting in just a little bit of work in the right steps in the right sequential orders to build your business, and to take it to the next level. I think you could do it.
Do you think that you can do it?
If so, lets hop on a call and talk about how you can turn your passion into profit with the few steps call the CYA process. You can book a call here: https://258mom.kartra.com/calendar/coffeechat
And let’s start a discussion. Talk to you soon.
